FAQs

What can I expect in my first session?

The first session is spent getting to know each other, with focus on building the therapeutic relationship which promotes safety in the space. This may include completing a brief history to understand more about your life and what brought you to therapy. By the end of the first session we will start establishing goals for our work together.

Are sessions covered by insurance?

Most employee benefits cover services by a registered social worker. After payment is received, you will receive a receipt that you can submit to your insurance company for reimbursement.

What is your cancellation policy?

I request 24 hours notice to cancel or reschedule your therapy session. No-shows or cancellation outside of the 24 hours would be subject to the full fee.

How can I support my child’s therapy process?

It’s wonderful that you want to be involved in your child’s care! At the same time, it’s important that your child feels this space is theirs, in a way that feels right for them.

Under the Health Care Consent Act (1996), there is no specific “age of consent” for personal health care decisions. This means that clients of any age have the right to provide or refuse consent for their own treatment, as long as they understand the information and potential consequences.

If you'd like more insight into your child’s work, I will speak with them directly to obtain their consent before sharing any details. Exceptions apply in situations that require mandatory reporting.
